Don't see why not. Go for it. Personally, I like the idea of the cinder block pit more than a grill. Just remove coals before a rise in water level.
Burning on the beach at Winter Pool is common.
Suggestion: Crowd Control?? When that pig starts sending up that aroma, you might meet some neighbors that you never knew you even had?? Or even wanted to have??
