I have no insight into how Obama is perceived by the Marines or DoD. Bush was still in office when I retired, and I don't remember Bush being particularly respected or loved by the military any more or less than anyone else (other than Clinton, for obvious reasons). I do remember a lot of pissed off people about extended deployments with no warning, and a rather large scandal about how returning vets were being treated by the VA.

I think how the military ultimately feels about Obama will depend on what happens in Afghanistan and where our policies go there. I'm a little worried when I hear McCrystal talking about protecting the population and maybe not going so hard after the enemy. The military is trained to fight and go after the bad guys -- not babysit the population. Everytime we lose sight of the mission, or the mission is not clear, you end up with an unhappy military.

But, I think it is a waste of time to compare who was better or worse. What is the signifigance now if Bush was beloved by the Marines? Bush is history. So what is really the point of a video like this?
