thanks!

I am fishing the Tallapoosa above Irwin shoals in a few days. I plan to bring my 7 wt and hopefully get into some spots and redeyes. I wouldn't mind hooking up with a stripe, either!  I have never fished up there that far so I will let you know how it goes. I talked to some guys from AC that fish there a lot so I feel like I have good info.

There's a guy, Mike Tucker, that has a place across from Woody Baird's Sure Shot store on 280, that supposedly ties flies for stripes and spots. Have you tried any of them?

Yeah, casting heavier rods is different. As different as a driver and a putter in golf. I get tangled up, too, and try to remember to let the rod do the work. Also on long casts try to do the "baseball cast" which is kind of a side arm back cast. But I get a lot of knots and need a lot more practice!
