The fin in question will work to help the boat plane quicker, but with a price. They rob the boat of speed at higher speed. You also risk damaging the cavitation plate that the fin mounts to if you strike anything in the water. I have seen it happen many times. Sometimes the plate can be welded to repair, sometimes not, requiring the lower unit to be replaced. Go to IBOATS.COM and search the forums. You'll get the big picture.
Trim tabs are the real solution. It goes back to that old saying, pay now or pay later, but later always cost you more.
For those of you who aren't familiar with IBOATS.COM, you ought to check it out. A wealth of information at your fingertips with the capability of downloading factory manuals on just about every engine and outdrive made.
