A lot of people place more thought into the clothes they wear and the car they drive than the way they present themselves in written form. When the only "view" you give to others is in written form (as in this forum, a job application, a letter to the editor, a complaint to a manufacturer or many other ways), your perceived credibility and intelligence are solely contained therein.
Everybody makes an occasional typo or grammatical error, especially in the "hit and run" communication of forums.
It is incredibly hard for people who place importance on these things to just ignore them. Hurray for Sally. She has standards.
As for me, I try to be correct. Sometimes, I'm not. Punctuation is my weakness.
I guess the thing is, if you don't know something, you don't know you don't know it. And therein lies the problem.
But I still like to hear everyone's opinion.
