You know sixstring that every school has their own group of obnoxious and ignorant fans. This state is full of them, rather you are for Alabama or Auburn, I have great examples on each side. But I will side with P.P. on this (and not just because he is my husband, or because he missed his medication and I am feeling sympathetic). He has a point.
You are normally born into a family where it is a tradition to pull for a certain team. This is how I became an Alabama fan. I have 3 degrees and over the course of my college life have attended 6 colleges or universities, none of them being Alabama, but I still get in front of the TV every fall and yell " Roll Tide". It's just part of my culture, it's how I was raised.
I don't truly believe that it matters whether or not you are an alumni or a sidewalk alumni, we are all fans. Maybe you don't like another teams fans, that is something you will have to deal with yourself. However, the more fans a team has the more money the school with receive from the impact of support... ticket sales, clothing sales... etc.
