You are obviously new to the forum so I will educate you about the conservatives here. Every single one of us opposed Bush's domestic spending and his moniker of compassionate conservative which is code for small big-government. We opposed prescription drug and other increases in domestic discretionary spending. So don't presume to know what we will or won't do. Any GOP candidate that is not a fiscal conservative will be criticized by conservatives on this forum. But your description of Bush/Cheney is incorrect on the whole despite their many foibles.

As a so-called independent, can we thank you as just another vote for Obamination? The problem with many so-called independents is they don't really stand for anything and wait until they see which way the wind is blowing and vote that way (hence we get the Messiah) or they have such a mishmash of ideas that are constantly in a state of flux that they can vote all over the place. And finally there are those so-called independents that are really liberals in hiding and have never voted for a GOP candidate in their lives. All have one thing in common, they view their self-proclaimed status as independent as somehow morally superior to those who identify with the GOP or the Demoncrats. But the fact is they usually vote for one party of the other depending on whether they are more conservative or more liberal and on what issues they revolve (i.e., fiscal or social).

What you seem to have a problem with is people who have core principals that we believe because they are right and have been tested and proven valid over and over again over long periods of time. My core principals are very straight forward, I believe in limited federal government, a strong national defense, limited taxation, limited government interference in the markets and traditional values. List for me one Demoncrat candidate that hits on more than one of these and I'll consider voting for them.

We also know what does not work because there is nothing new under the sun and all we have to do is look at history as a way to debunk liberal fantasies. We vote for candidates that hew as close to our principals as possible and unlike independents or third-party losers we will always take the lesser of two evils. That's what logical, thinking adults do. You can wish and hope and dream that the perfect candidate comes along (which for independents like you its someone who believes what you believe, whatever that happens to be this week, month or year), but all you are going to get is incompetents like Obama.
