we are "protected" here on Martin because so much shore line is owned by Alabama Power and Russell. This seems to prevent major out-of-state developers from purchasing large tracks of shoreline where very rapid development could occur.

Though things are certainly changing here, it seems that APC and Russell are content to a more gradual development of the lake than explosive development that will occur on Wedowee if the big developer does decide to buy. Opelika-Auburn paper indicated they are looking at 10,000 acres, and 80 miles of shoreline though how does one convert 10,000 acres to this many miles of shore. One of these seems to be over or understated.
