Architects top list of hardest hit jobs in 2009

The scorecard for a very bad employment year indeed is starting to trickle in (the Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release its final tally for ‘09 next week).

Using the bureau’s data, MSNBC has compiled the jobs hardest hit over the past 12 months.

Architects, who saw their ranks plummet from 230,000 to 189,000, top the dubious list, followed by carpenters (down 17 percent) and production supervisors (down 754,000 jobs).

A certain hero who piloted a jetliner onto the Hudson River notwithstanding, it wasn’t an especially good year for pilots (down 30.4 percent) either.
