I believe he is a "one trick pony".  I will grant him the expertise on Iraq, but you may recall that his surge theory was more effective in Iraq than it was in Afghanistan and military scholars still debate its long term effectiveness even in Iraq. 

But, I don't personally believe that his consultations are necessarily any more critical than other experts on the region, to the end that he should be forgiven for breaking the law.  He obviously has no personal integrity, and I don't know that I want someone like that advising the WH.  Heaven knows they have big enough problems with integrity as it is.  I'd rather hear he is consulting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but then they probably won't have anything to do with him, given his disregard for their code of conduct and his inability to be trusted with classified data.  BTW, did you hear that they found highly classified black books (that means information that reveals sources of intelligence and operations) in an unlocked drawer in the first floor of his house?  That tells me all I need to know about his regard for the security of the most sensitive information impacting our national security. 

No morals, no integrity.... perhaps he should be President.
