Clearwater is right. I have had the same problem on my Yamaha and nobody could find the problem for years. To check it for sure you can cut the fuel hose between the tank and motor install a brass Tee with a ball cock valve on one outlet in the Tee. whenever the engine dies open the valve for just a second or two close the valve and restart the engine. I will bet you it will start and run fine for a while.

After you confirm your problem, it's a good place to install a fuel filter and do away with the ball cock,
