Maybe, but he still has not done a press conference or take questions from anyone other than the softballs he has gotten from a couple of very friendly people in the media.  And he did have yet another brain freeze while reading the teleprompter.  I do think given the movement in the polls he has no choice but to debate.  Unfortunately the bar is set so low that even if he does a terrible job in the debates it will be seen as a victory.  Such is the low expectations like we saw with his acceptance speech at the DNC.
