Before WW II a missionary visited North Africa. He noticed that there the man rode the donkey and the woman walked behind. 

   When in the army he was sent back there. He noticed that the man still rode the donkey but the wife walked in front. He asked a local why the change?

   The Arab merely shrugged and said, "Land mines!"
