The Osprey is primarily a Marine aircraft, but the Air Force is supposed to have a small fleet for Special Operations work with at least some of them based down at Eglin AFB in the Florida panhandle. What you saw would be, in my guess, one of the first of the USAF aircraft from Eglin using Lake Martin as a landmark on a training flight. Otherwise, it would come from Camp Lejune, North Carolina. Wherever it came from, it will become a more common sight in the future since Osprey deliveries have only just started.
