I will "salt" an area every so often. Get a bag of sweet feed. Add seed to a 5 gal bucket and soak with lake water for a few days in the sun. Cast it around the area you want to fish. Really draws in the cats. You will catch a ton of fish the next few days. You could overfish doing this too much in any one area.
