Watched Biden's speech today on oil and gas costs.  First of all it was clear he was reading it word for word off the teleprompter.

He wants to tax the permits that oil companies have that they aren't using.  Apparently some of them aren't using them because there was no point when Biden was planning on cutting them off at the knees over his clean energy initiatives.  According to a commentator, some of the permits are in the middle of nowhere  and the oil companies would have to build infrastructure (investment) in order to drill them.

Then the coup de gras was when he wrapped himself in the flag and told oil companies it was their patriotic duty to abandon their investors and increase production to do away with those 'obscene" profits and make things better for American "families".  In my experience, when you have nothing to your ideas, you wrap yourself in the flag and urge people to do their patriotic duty.  He's also going to release a million barrels a day from the reserves.  He blames the pandemic and Russia/Ukraine for the rising cost of gas, but we all know better than that.  Biden always has an excuse why things are not his fault.
