I am not familiar with the area, but as far as the navigation rules go, unless there is a prohibitive marker, you make the choice. Just mind the RoW, common sense and your wake.

Coming soon, hopefully in Alabama, is the 100 foot rule that will require idle speed within 100 feet of shoreline or structure. It's not going to be popular, but the increased water front and boat density across the state have generated a need to something to control wakes and speeds.

Marine Police can do as necessary to ensure safety on the water, safely.
