Sad to say - this was not too long ago. When I was in high school, I took a Remington 1100 12 gauge to school for a speech class demonstration on how to clean a shotgun. I was too young to drive, so I walked to the bus stop, and carrying the cased shotgun, and got on the bus. When I got to the school I checked the gun at the office. I then checked it out for my speech. After speech class, I took it back to the office, and dropped it off until I was leaving school, when I picked it back up and rode the bus back to the bus stop, then walked home. This was 1977 – not too long ago, but centuries from today. It was a time in which we were held responsible for our actions and machines were not blamed for all that is wrong with society. I had parents that held ME responsible for what I did and punished ME for my transgressions. That shotgun sits in the gun safe behind me as I type and after thousands of rounds has never threatened me or my family. For Christmas, my wife gave me a new .22 and a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun…. I am a lucky man.

Back in the ancient 70's the Quarterback Club at my high school raffled off a Browning Automatic 12 gauge shotgun. My Dad happened to win that shotgun. I still have it.

The point is, can you imagine any school affiliated club or orginazation even considering raffling off a firearm in today's world?

A friend of mines' son was sent to alternative school because he missed picking up ONE BULLET for his rifle in the floorboard od his truck. He went hunting with his uncle before school, then left his gun with his uncle to go to school. Well the dogs happened to come that and alerted on his truck because of the bullet. This is a solid A/B student. He wanted to quit rather go to the alternative school. He didn't. He graduated last year.

The point is, half the trucks in the lot when I was in school had a gun or two hanging on the back window gun rack. Now they throw them out over a bullet. Insane, ZERO TOLERANCE policies are a joke.
