Anyone here have any experience with feeding the fish at the end of their dock? Talking about maybe a mechanical feeder that throws out food on a schedule. No, not talking about repeatedly losing your bait to a pesky bream. Everything I see on the net talks about Pond Feeding which would be different from the Lake, I think?

We throw out floating fish food the old-fashioned way, and it does generate a good bit of activity. Mostly catfish, but get several crappie and a few bass..

I have a pvc pipe strapped to one of my dock post. It is capped at the bottom. I have drilled a ton of pecker holes in it and put a screw on and off cap at the top. You fill it with cheap dog food, and it draws in lots of catfish and some of the biggest carp I have ever seen. The idea was posted by another Forum member years ago in the fishing section. With the water down, it is a good time to put one in for next year. I should dig out my old compound bow and clean some of the carp out of the Lake next year.

I put a Moultrie feeder that I got at Bass Pro Shop on the end of my pier (it has a directional dispenser so I don't get feed all over my pier and in the boat).  I also have a Green Monster light as most of the fish come after dark.  The first year I used a mixture of floating and sinking fish food and had lots of small catfish and small bream.  the second year, I used floating food only.  it's more fun to watch and 100% of the food is eaten.  The bream and catfish were much bigger.  I wonder if they were the same fish, just well fed.  One word of caution, you will need to build a racoon-proof cage for your feeder.  If you don't, they will eat the food, throw the feeder in the lake, then use your boat an a porta-potty (see my earlier post regarding Osma Bin Racoon)
