Subject:   Oblamer's divide and conquer strategy

Wishing to talk about anything other than his failed economic record and dismal foreign affairs missteps, it is becoming increasingly obvious that Oblamer is going to pander to certain constituencies and try to frighten others into voting for him...or at least not to vote for Romney. To wit: - His apparent opposition to gay marriage is evolving and pretty much everyone in his administration who has been asked is all for it. Gay vote: Check - Julia describes how cradle to grave government is there for her every step of the way and how those mean Republicans want to take away all her goodies. Single female with unwanted children vote. Check - Despite having his bluff called in student loan interest rates by the GOP-controlled House, he is still claiming those mean old Republicans want to double their interest rate (despite this being a law passed by the Dems). Brain dead college students. Check - The retreat in Iraq and Afghanistan continues unabated despite the advice of his generals. Anti-war loony left wing nut. Check - If I had a son, Trayvon would have looked just like him. Angry, embittered black civil rights left wing nuts. Check Many more examples could follow but what he seems to misunderstand is that these constituencies are in his base and considering the incredibly high levels of unemployment in these demographic groups it will take a lot more juju to get them excited about another four years of misery with Jimmy Carter's 3rd term. And none of this is going to appeal to the so-called independents that appear for now to have partially seen the light.

So called independents???? You mean those of us who truly want SMALL Government, and refuse to walk lockstep with either of the two pandering parties? Why do you have difficulty seeing merit with anything outside your political leanings? Although I feel that Obama is far more polarizing than Romney - I will still have to hold my nose and vote against the Demoncrat.

The fact is that independents in large numbers in 2008 took a hope on change and gave us this disaster in chief. If you didn't vote for him then that comment does not apply to you. The reason I voted for McCain in 2008 and will do so for Romney in 2012 is that I know there is a difference between either of them and the Messiah. That is not being in lock step with anybody, it is a rational decision based on the facts. Irrational people say that Democrats and Republicans are all the same. If we learned anything over the last 3+ years, as imperfect as many Republicans are, they are far, far better than Democrats. To argue otherwise is to abandon all reason in the face of incontrovertible facts. I use the term "so-called independents" to describe the following type of voters: 1) liberals or progressives who simply do not want to accept the label that best describes their ideology and beliefs; and 2) people who have no real convictions and simply get a sense of the direction of the electorate and go that way because of a lack of core values and an inability to apply reason and logic. If you don't fit into either of these categories then there is no reason for taking offense. Be certain of this, I am a committed Christian first, a social and fiscal conservative second and a Republican as a distant third. However, if you think there is another party out there that is closer to my views that has any hope of winning national office I am all ears. And please don't talk about libertarians because they have no more hope of winning national office than the green party or the socialist party. Just look what happened in France to see what we will get if either the libertarians or very conservative independents decide that since their guy or gal isn't the nominee they are going to stay home. Left wing nuts like Archie and GF will vote for Oblamer even if he takes us into a depression and pictures are released of him having carnal knowledge with farm animals (heck, on the latter they might take it as a good idea). Fortunately, they only represent about 20% of the general population and will be less each year as they contracept and abort themselves out of existence. Its why they needed the education system and media on their side because there is no real connection with average people and there are fewer and fewer that openly ascribe to their failed ideology. So take no offense but if you choose not to support Romney over the Messiah because of your antipathy toward the GOP that is truly a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of my post. I "hear" Republicants speak of being the "party of small Goverment", but their actions do not bear that out. Perhaps a large part of the "independents" are - just like you - trying to find someone whose goals and visions are most like their own. I agree that in this country, we will have rule by one or both of the major parties, and think that is screwed up. Those of us who do not think that life is always either black or white, are forced in many cases to make a decision about what we value most - separation of church and state, or separation of us and our money. I have ALWAYS voted against the Dumbacrat Presidential candidate, but will CHOOSE the other candidates based on MY preferences.

I wasn't sure if you thought I was referring to you or other like minded conservative independents that are sick of RINO's as I definitely was not. As for the two-party system I actually think it is much better than multi-party systems like you see in so many countries. What happens in these countries is two fold. First, if you have two parties that are conservative leaning and one that is liberal all too often you end up with the liberal because the conservative vote is split. We saw this with Ross Perot. Can also happen the other way as we saw with Nader and Gore in 2000. I would rather see a head to head competition. The second issue is when it comes to Congress, if you have multiple parties they have to come together to form ruling coalitions. It is usually the worst kind of sausage making that I personally prefer happen before the job of governing begins, ie., at least with our system we know in advance what we are getting when we go to the ballot box (as much as is possible anyway) versus finding out after the election as the governing coalitions are formed. As little as we know about what we are getting before hand it is even worse when all these strange bedfellows come together after all sorts of horse trading, promises, bribes, extortion, etc.
