By now we have all heard that allegedly some of New Orleans police stole or looted amongst other things Rolex watches. It so happens that offical Rolex dealers and service personnel have on hand serial numbers of all reported stolen Rolex watches. If a watch on this list is taken in for repair or servicing, it is confiscated and the bearer will have to take it up with the authorities. Hope it is not the same authority that sold it to them.

So, you may want to pass on a good deal on a genuine Rolex unless you are sure of its heritage.
