I think it's a great idea for loud, fast boats to boycott the poker run--let's make that a weekly boycott. BTW, as a nice gesture wouldn't it be nice if the loud, fast crowd donated their saved gas money to the Sheriff's Girl Ranch. That would raise far more money than participating--and it'd make algore happy too!!

No boycott. I just think most want be there. I know some that are going, but I have not heard a lot about it this year. Speculation on my part.

It is not about loud fast boats or anything of the sort. It is about adults having some relaxation time from their hectic lives and enjoying the water with their adult toys in a civil and mature manner. At the same time helping out needed causes which makes everyone feel better and adds to the adrenal high of fun an pleasure of socialization with one another. It is also an opportunity to instruct children and show them a great fun time.

I think the new HOBO group Maverick and Osms are attempting to organize should have a boat ralleye or sorts like a car ralleye. You do not have to have the fastest boat, but you must have the most skilled navigator and navigation system. The ralleye is based upon the consistent timinig of speed (reasonable speed) from points. If you go too fast from certain points then you loose points. The winning factor is how well you navigate the course at a consistant safe speed . It is a huge Lake and would make a perfect potential course from various ends with many posibilities.

The boaters will leave at timed increments and will be checked in and out at selected check points. I bet it would be a lot of fun for everyone and all categories of water craft could participate.

It is not a race of speed but an exercise in boating experience, expedience and smart smooth boating.

This is my contribution suggestion to the New Lake Martin HOBO. I will not be there Saturday in person but in spirit.. Feb

moved down to the lake. Looks like you're the perfect man to organize the boat rally/fund raiser.

I wish I knew the Lake that well; which I do not. We might need Life Time Laker to give us a hand. He and a few others on the Forum have a lot of years of accumulated experience on the Lake.

It would be wonderful if we could unite and win together. I think we might find more common ground (water) than any of us could ever think.

We all have one common shared goal and it is the love of our place.

I vote for BigFoot as our Facilitator. No one can get mad at this man.
