Be aware that someone is stealing gasoline and portable gasoline tanks on the northeast end of the lake. Last week someone removed both of my 6 gallon tanks and the supply line from the back of my boat moored on the lake. So much for the honor and respect boaters are supposed to show to one another. And what a disappointment for my kids who were looking forward to a ride.

If I want to file a report, should I contact the DNR?

Be safe and keep an eye out for these thieves (boat trash) on the lake!

Report it to the sheriffs dept. because it happened to me. They caught the young boys doing it so they know who they are.

Would a tempting can of gasoline mixed with sugar be too harsh for our thieving friends? I have heard that such a concoction can permanently freeze an engine, maybe even in the middle of a lake.

i have yet to see it seize an engine. however it will cause the valves to stick in the guides possibly damaging the pistons and or push rods.

BTW..as a mechanic i have also seen coke do that also...lol

as far as would it be too much?,,,Theives are fair game...go for it i say..lol

The show "Mythbusters" ran a special on this thing. It was determined that chlorine bleach was the worse additive...

Just a note of caution - the would be theives may return and do more damage than just stealing gas.

I have to know, - what effect does chlorine bleach have on an engine when used as a gasoline additive? Those mythbusters guys have a great job!

and innocent. The other stuff is destructive (even to a thief). Ever tried to pump out a gas tank and clean out a carburetor--that's enough to break any part time thief.
