How fast have you been in a boat on the water?

My cousin took me flat out in his bass boat one day while he was visiting. I believe we were surpassing 70 mph. I was uncomfortable with just the prop in the water. My pontoon does about 20mph. My Wave runner will do 50-60 and I know some of them will scat. I guess you feel a little safer in a bigger boat.

No matter what boat, I'd feel a hell of a lot safer at those speeds in July than April. An errant tree or log will turn that chucklefest bad fast, and you're merely a passenger from then until the end.

88 mph in a Challenger bass boat back sometime in the mid 80's. Buster Dobbs, the builder, was at the helm. I remember that 70-80 was smooth as glass but past that it started to get dicey. I remember looking over at Buster and seeing the flesh on his face rippling like mad in the breeze. It was exciting but I don't think I ever want to go that fast again on the water.

Buster was building a boat to go for a speed record. Don't know if he ever got it though.

This question reminded me of a story, but if you are easily offended stop reading now.

Several years ago, one of my uncles went for a ride in a bass boat with another of his nephews. I don't know exactly how fast they went, but it seems it was in the 70 mph range.

When they got back, we asked my uncle how he liked the ride. He calmly said, "Well, I learned the answer to something I've always wondered about. I always wondered how you could be in those small boats, so close to the water, going so fast, and not worry about falling out. Well once we got past 50 mph, my butthole puckered so bad I was glued to the seat."

You need to go home and take care of my tractor!!

You should be ashamed, letting all those strangers ride her like that. Thats only OK if it is ladies in thongs!

Fastest I have been on water is 128.8. Destin, FL. 30' Eliminator. And, LTL, you are suppose to come drive tractor yourself.

Fastest I have been on the water was 112.1 in the "Bling It On" (not on Lake Martin)

Have to say thanks to Steve and Cathouse Marine for servicing up my "Baby" (boat) this past Saturday. LTL, the sexy tractor is a blast to drive, A/C and radio on of course.....lol.....even went for a boat ride in Steve's "Backyard Fountain" pontoon boat....had a great time!!!

In relation to all of the high speeds, my question is why? Not degrading anyone, but those speeds on the lake are "just too high." Seems dangerous to me. JMO
