It has broken $1.50 a gallon much faster than I expected. Today I filled up at a station with regular at $1.479

Even with the recent projected moves by Opec, I think oil is headed below $30 a barrel and that could bring gas under $1 again. Obviously demand is down, but Opec says they want to cut but reality is with the lower oil prices they need to sell more oil and the last thing they will do is reduce production which lowers revenue even if longer term it will rise again. It will take 4-6 months to have an impact and they don't want to wait that long.

This my friends is how you crush the Middle east .... destroy their revenue source. Drill, drill, drill as we introduce alternative energy.

WW....I bought regular at $1.399 yesterday in Lawrenceville, GA. I left the lake yesterday morning and found prices ranging from $1.619 at exit 60 on I-85 to the price above. As I got closer to Atlanta, the price per gallon dropped. I agree with you on the price dropping to below a dollar a gallon. I hope the lower gas prices will encourage people to get out and shop not only for Christmas but also for the big ticket items.

Atlanta has always been cheaper ... i don't know why. But QT is the price leader. I see 10 - 15 cent differences between stations relatively close to one another. All I can believe is the price id falling so fast that the higher volume stations are able to reduce much faster. Other stations have too much high priced gas in their tanks and don't want to take a loss. I don't know enough about retail gas, but would think the distributor would share in that loss.
