Hi, I'm Dawn a new co-angler in the upcoming WBT tournament in May that will be held on Neely. I am looking for any pointers, on the best way to fish Neely at that time. I know things change year to year, but for someone who knows Neely, Knows what works best. I know this because I fish in Minnesota, that is primeraly where I do all my fishing until now. How is the top water action by the middle of May? How about buzz baits? Would like to hear some feed back. If there are any woman who are entered into this tournament from this forum, I would like to hear from you.

Dawn,

I suggest you post under the Lake Topics or Fishing area of your forum, but your forum may not be very active. The off topics heading is for all lakes and most of the posting here is from Lake Martin Alabama. We are one of the the few lakes where this forum has been very active for several years. BTW, where is lake Neely?

Are you on the Coosa?

Yes Neely or more acurately Henry Neely is on the Coosa above Talladega and south of Gadsden. A very stumpy lake. It was an APCo experiment years ago where they decided not to clear cut the lake bed before filling. Only the main channel was cleared. But then after years they decided that all the stumps were a hazard. They were originally cut well above the water line but with rot and erosion many were left laying just below the surface and many folks were damaging boats and motors. APCO spent millions on a specialized barge to cut the stumps about 3 feet below the surface. It is a run of the river lake with stable water levels.

But sorry Dawn, I am not a fisherman so I can't help with your question.

I saw you fish two times Sunday. Once in my boat fishing for that woman, and once sitting in that chair watchin' Bream gettin' plucked from the pond.

As for the bream, I was simply observing and offering encouragement. I was much more interested in the drink recipe than the fishing. And as for the lady in the boat, well I guess that shows why I gave up fishing. No luck, using the wrong bait, no casting skills, expired lisence, improper equipment, etc. etc.
