Architects top list of hardest hit jobs in 2009
By Steve Giegerich
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The scorecard for a very bad employment year indeed is starting to trickle in (the Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release its final tally for ‘09 next week).

Using the bureau’s data, MSNBC has compiled the jobs hardest hit over the past 12 months.

Architects, who saw their ranks plummet from 230,000 to 189,000, top the dubious list, followed by carpenters (down 17 percent) and production supervisors (down 754,000 jobs).

A certain hero who piloted a jetliner onto the Hudson River notwithstanding, it wasn’t an especially good year for pilots (down 30.4 percent) either.

But our favorite Achitect on this forum has seen his business grow. He has stated he has more business than he can handle.

Obama policies, while a failure for the rest of the population, has helped our Archie.

I guess that shows you, if you are a liberal and support the messiah he will help you. So I guess we should all bow to the Messiah, the way he bows to other world leaders, so he can help the rest of the people that need work.

More government control is the answer. Look at how it helped Archie ... he needs to let the other Architects know this secret.

Hail to the Messiah ... bigger government for all. I think we should all surrender our income and businesses to the Messiah, so he can tell us how much we can have and provide equality for all.

Socialism is the answer ... why would we ever want someone to be more successful than someone else. It may make someone feel bad.

If the coal companies begin mining the Smith Lake area, watch the unemployment rate rise in our backyard (along with a few neighboring counties). Cullman County has invested heavily in their new Stoney Lonesome wilderness park. Coal trucks traveling with regularity on U.S. Highway 69 will most certainly alter the current environment and traffic patterns for the immediate area. The promotion of tourism in the area will contribute much more towards job creation and growth, than a handful of temporary mining jobs. When as a nation, will we begin to get our collective "act together"? Everyone needs to understand that a vibrant, growing economy, comes from within, not something that is sent to us courtesy Washington DC.

WW, why don't you give some credit to Archie for having a decent year as an architect rather than acting like a stressed out Wing Nut and suggesting off the wall reasons. You accuse me of not making sense when you show class envy and try to act like a confused spokesman for the Wing Nuts. Time for you to enroll in Dale Carnegie "How to Win Friends and Influence People" cause you ain't cutting it.....
