Scarborough: Obama ‘Run-of-the-Mill Politician’

President Barack Obama has turned into a disaster with his wild attacks against Republicans, says MSNBC commentator Joe Scarborough. “For many admirers of President Barack Obama, these past few weeks have been painful to watch,” the former Republican congressman from Florida writes on Politico.

“The president seems unfocused. His message sounds jumbled. His party is desperate. Rather than campaigning on two years of accomplishments, Obama and his staff are swinging wildly at windmills.”

Scarborough cites White House attacks against House Minority Leader John Boehner, former President George W. Bush and conservative talk show host Glenn Beck as examples.

“Two years ago, Obama played the role of inspired political prophet,” Scarborough writes. “But two years later, followers of that grandiose dream have awakened to a grim reality: that their transcendent leader is beginning to look like a run-of-the-mill politician.”

As much as I like his morning show, never forget that Joe Scarborough is at heart a Republican politician. It wouldn't surprise me to see him run for office again.

Considering the ugliness that preceding this election, it is not a suprise to me that the President seems flustered.  The balance of his term will be shaped by the outcome of the midterms.  The American people are angry at Washington.   I'm sure there are a lot of politicans that are very worried right now.  Don't forget that the Republicans are worried about the influence of the Tea Party.

You incoherence is beyond belief.  I could point to dozens of posts where you waxed eloquent about how old Mornin Joe was such a coherent, reasonable Republican and now that he comes out and states something negative about the Messiah OCarter he is suddenly back to being a "Republican politician".  I have frequently pointed out that Mornin Joe was a RINO when in Congress and in his new media role no longer associates himself with the GOP.

Ironic isn't it that you finally agree with my prior assessments that he is not a reliable source of anything but it took him pointing out the folly of your vote for hope and change.....your hypocrisy is limitless...

I believe one of the rules of the forum is no personal attacks.

For whatever it might be worth, I gleaned the following from my formal and informal education and training:

Non-Personal:  Your statements are incoherent

Personal:  You are incoherent

Non-Personal: Your statements are hypocritical

Personal:  You are a hypocrite.

One reflects what is said, the other assigns a trait to the person saying it.

Based on your coherent explanation, would either or both of these be considered personal? Name:   MrHodja - Subject:   Goooffiieeee Date:   5/11/2010 10:29:31 AM But usually a cut and paste accompanies a point to be made....which in this case is missing...but then most of your posts miss the point....:>) ======================================== Name:   MrHodja - Subject:   Hey Hodgie Date:   4/30/2010 11:57:17 PM You are so stupid that you can't even recognize that I was responding to YOUR bull$#!+, dumb$#!+. I will admit that your posts are quite amusing, albeit in a Keystone Kops kind of way. Nasreddin Hodja

First non personal - talking about your posts, not you.

Second personal and poorly worded.

But what does whether I posted any personal attacks have to do with anything?  Unlike the aura you liberals attempt to convey, I am not perfect.  What is your point, or do you have one?

And, GoneFishin I consider your addressing me as "HODGIEEEEEE" a personal attack, and have only mangled your screen name in the past in response to your childish actions (operative word "actions").

I agree with your characterizations of personal and non-personal.

But, why attack at all.  Everyone is entitled to their point of view.  It's possible to respectfully disagree.

Gee, I consider Hodgieeeeee as a form of endearment just as I assumed your reference to me as Goooffiieeee was. Am I wrong???????

You are a very strange person.   You act like you are 12 years old.  Maybe that is a compliment ... who knows.

As I have said before ... I really feel sorry for you.  It has to be so difficult to deal with your mental struggles and wish you were someone else or more successful.

It is so sad.

I guess I will have to repeat myself from my last post since you missed it or chose to ignore it the first time.

I "have only mangled your screen name in the past in response to your childish actions (operative word "actions")."

You make me tired.

Waterboy, you are wise beyond your years. I am who I am but must have class envy. To think I am replying to a CPA and attorney who has a home on the Ridge and is a graduate of Emory Law elevates me to a level far beyond my humble life. Thanks for making me feel so important as I always look forward with great anticipation to your wise postings. It is nice to know you care about my well being.

November 2, 2010.

My ballot has already been cast, since I will be in Charleston that day.

To all those who think this country is headed down the wrong path I implore you to ensure you do your part by voting as well.

None of what I wrote was a personal attack but a valid and correct assessment of the incoherence and hypocrisy of your statements.  Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion which also means I am entitled to my opinion about your opinions.  My opinion is your posts (in this thread combined with previous threads) are incoherent and hypocritical.  It sounds to me that you don't agree with my opinion which is fair enough.

I just can't read posts like these and let them slide and you know what they say about the heat and the kitchen.  I can certainly understand your desire to be able to post away and not have it critically examined but that is not what happens here.  Join the fun and stop whining.....

Alternatively you can become a drive-by poster like GF who loves to lob a grenade into the room (metaphorically speaking of course) and then sit back and watch the fireworks.  Either way works for me.

you are in charge here and as such get to make the rules.
Your ideas are just your ideas.  Not everyone agrees with you.  I find your ideas and often your posts, offensive and narrow minded.   Sometimes, I don't respect the source of your "facts".

Date:   10/22/2010 7:31:17 PM

You see the problem with facts is they are stubborn things.  You may not "like" my facts because they contradict your views but a fact is a fact and not subject to your agreement or disagreement with them.  For example, I say the state of Alabama is located between Georgia and Mississippi, a fact, there is really no sense in saying you disagree with it.  That's because the reality of its factualness has absolutely nothing to do with whether you agree or not.

What I objected to in your original post was the numerous times you have lectured us on how Joe is the only reasonable conservative and how often you agree with his views.  But the one time he critcizes the Messiah you suddenly want to dismiss him as a "Republican politician".  That is hypocritical.  Now if you had said I don't agree with his assessment and here is why we could actually engage in a discussion.  But you generally don't do that.  You either dismiss people because of their political views without really examining the validity of what they say or you make unfounded and unsupported statements and when challenged you dimsiss us because, for example, we didn't work for the federal government.

That always will garner a response and a challenge from me because I want to engage based on facts, reason and logic and not on emotion or unsubstantiated statements.  It is nothing personal.  I would hold anyone's feet to the fire in a similar fashion.  Just ask Archie (who has gratefully slunk off) and GF (our favorite drive-by poster).

Well, sometimes a fact is not really a fact.  It's an opinion masquarding as a "fact".  You can twist facts, just on how they are stated.  Just like poll questions.  Just like numbers.  Just like "facts".

I like Joe Scarborough.  I'm not dismissing him, but he makes no bones about the fact that he is a Republican.  And he was an elected official.  And it seems to me that he has sometimes been testing the water for making another run for public office.  He often makes public comments that make clear that he doesn't like the Obama Administration.  There are times I agree with him and times I don't.  This time, I don't.

I don't expect anyone to believe me "just because I worked in Washington for the Federal Government".   But, given that I have, I do think it gives me insight into how the government often works.  But, I don't really care if anyone agrees with me or not.  I lived it and I go on my experiences.   Just because I don't write long detailed posts about this or that doesn't mean I don't have facts or insight.  I've written more long detailed analysis in my career than I care to remember, and now that I've retired, I've given it up.  If the result is that some people here want to discount me, well, I can live with that.

you constantly talking about other people is proof you have class envy ... you do that with everyone ... you are either jealous or ashamed of your lack of accomplishments.   The sad part is you have to lie about who you are ... I called you on it loser and offered you $1,000 for everyone to see ... all you need to do is show up and you backed down.

You embarrassed yourself with your big mouth ... if there is anything you doubt ... put your money where your mouth is or shut up ... you lost once and you will lose every time ... for one simple reason ... you are a loser.

You have never backed one thing you have said ... everyone knows you are a joke ... you should go the way of Archie .... another loser that could not back his attacks and ran like a crying baby.

I am at the lake this weekend and going to the game tomorrow ... come on over for a glass of wine loser.

I understand your point about opinions masquerading as facts and agree.  When I used the term fact I meant something that was objectively true and not an opinion.  I use facts (the objectively true kind)  to support my opinions.  You often don't support your opinions with facts and ask us to accept them at face value based on your background and experience.  When your opinions fly in the face of my opinions (based on facts and analysis) I am naturally, and think reasonably, going to ask you to support your opinion with facts.  That you have "given up" doing that is meaningless to me and in my view a cop out.

When someone is acting as an expert witness (something I don't often do but have on several occasions) they don't have that luxury of just asking someone to accept what they say at face value, they have to support it with data (facts) and a reasonable analysis of the data.  You also have to anticipate the legal theories of the other side and be prepared to refute it.  The training I received to act in this capacity is what drives me to support my opinions and not just ask everyone to believe me because I said so.  I wouldn't expect you to do that and I can't understand why you expect us to do so for you.

As for Scarborough, he WAS a GOP politician.  If you look at his prescriptions for the GOP in his book, he is clearly a RINO and is offerering up Democrat-lite, an approach that has never worked for the GOP.  And you did dismiss what he said by calling him Republican politician instead of responding with facts.  If you don't believe me re-read your post.
