but I give high marks to him for his sense of humor. I don't want him as President, but I'll bet he would be a hoot over a beer. I give him a lot of credit as a human being for not getting defensive over his debate performances.

I assume you are talking about Perry.

I had high hopes for him ... but for some reason I don't think he connected with the american people, including me.

I like what he says about most issues and he has a strong record.  Now don't get me wrong, if the choice was Oblamer or Perry ... it was be an easy vote for Perry.

It seems to be coming down to Newt or Romney ... I always felt Newt was the smartest of the bunch politically, but he may be too polarizing ... but I have been suprised by how the country has embraced him ... we will see after another month.

My gut still says the GOP nominee will be Romney.  But Newt would kill Obama in a debate ...

I would love to see one of the debates between Obama and the GOP nominee to be one where they can ask each other questions and they are allowed two follow-up questions to the initial response.  Will never happen ... but that would give the american people clear choices and understanding of each candidate.

I did mean Perry... guess I hadn't had enough coffee yet. I'm really surprised that Newt has moved up in the polls, as has Ron Paul. But, it's early in the process.

Extensive government executive experience, bi partisan success, forward thinking, demonstrated reform leadership, solid RECORD, thoroughly vetted, grades and birth certificate public, books he authored are on subjects other than himself, the only one on the stage that is tending to a leadership role as he seeks higher office, military service, family farm background, no known terrorist affiliations, wasn't immersed in the socialist redistribution of Black Liberation Theology, the only one suffering the distractions in the September/October debates of out of control wildfires with back surgery 4 weeks earlier, I don't understand why you have decided to exclude Rick Perry from consideration, other than he is running as a Republican.

I know exactly what you are saying ... but whatever it takes to get Oblamer out of there is a good candidate.  Romney is by no means my dream candidate ... but he will be a far cry better than Oblamer and will work with the GOP congress ... I am hoping both houses after the next election.

I am not a Ron Paul fan, although he raises a number of issues that must be resolved to assure this nations survival. Breaking down his message, then attempting to match his concerns to constitutional authority is an eye popping moment. Many of us have raised all kinds of major league heck over the last decade, and especially over the last 3 years, regarding the over reach of the federal government. Paul causes us to recognize our personal hypocrite lurking in our shadows. Attacking the over reach from a different angle is Rick Perry. His position, simply stated, is let the states decide.

His responses in the debates have not impressed me. I'm not holding his memory lapses against him -- I was once giving a talk and completely lost my train of thought, although I was able to cover my tracks. But, if it comes down to Newt or Rick Perry, Perry gets my vote.

Not much different from G W Bush.... another cheerleader type.... real presidential. if he could only remember that 3rd department.

"He(PERRY) then attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, was elected senior class social secretary, and was also elected as one of A&M's five yell leaders (a popular Texas A&M tradition analogous to male cheerleaders).[14] Perry graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in animal science[15] with a 2.5 GPA.[16][17]"

I will bet it took less than 5 minutes to uncover Rick Perry's scholastic achievements, yet, 4 years later, we know zer0 of the great pretender's. You have Perry's GPA, on campus activities, affiliations, etc., and probably can even find some folks from his days on campus that remember him, or perhaps some pics of him participating in some events, unlike the #OWH er we have today at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I gave him a pass on the early debates. He was on his feet for extended periods of time 5 weeks after the surgery, and, fully immersed in the then out of control fires at home, note without federal assistance. It seems like over the last 25-30, or is it 50 or so debates, he has managed to step up. There is no doubt that the great orators can make him look substandard in these debate formats, BUT, his record, public and private, is unmatched by any of his competition for the nomination. For accountable leadeship perspective, combine the populations of Utah, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Pennsylvania east of Pittsburgh, to match the population of Texas.

take out a threatening coyote like my man Perry? My money would sit on the "highly unlikely" as the answer for both questions.

That is exactly right ... remember it was Oblamer that preached about transparency ... but find his grades ... nope he ordered them seal.   Find out how he paid for his education ... can't have that info either.   How did he apply ... as US or foreign student ... sealed as well.   How about why he gave up his license to practice law, along with his wife.   That is a secret as well.   The ONLY reason I know that someone will volunteer to surrender their law license is under a threat of disbarment, but by surrendering your license and agreeing to never practice law again in any state, does not make the reason a part of public record as it would if the courts stripped you of the license through a disbarment hearing.

Of course, I have to give the media credit for vetting these issues .... NOT  !!!    These are things that should be vetted and should matter to the american people vs how many times someone was married or did they make a mistake in their private life.   I thought the things Clinton did "in the Oval Office" were incomprehensible, but he did a decent job in working with the GOP congress to move the country in the right direction.

Oblamer policies have not only been a complete failure and he is a disaster to this country ... he is slim ball as well with his secrets and preaching transparency, when he is the least transparent president in history.   I'll throw his wife in that bucket too ...

I'm not sure I'm ready to give him a full pass on the debates. He has to be able to articulate his views. If you want to play on the big stage, you've got to be to project. He's amusing, but I don't think he is ready for the Presidential politics.

I lived next door to him at Texas A&M.  He was a sophomore and I was a fish in Squadron 6 in 1969.  Yep, he did all that stuff.

When I went back 25 years later, he remembered me like it was yesterday.  He was the Lt Gov then.

He's a heck of a guy and on my list and no I haven't decided who I am voting for!

If he had a telepromter maybe he would'nt have a brain fart. Seams like Obama still has trouble even with the telepromter. All I hear from Obama is more of the same junk that keeps digging us into a deeper hole. He keeps saying he's like this President and that president but is only like President Carter which he dose'nt want to mention. I will vote for anyone over Obama but Newt is still my candident as for now.
