After listening to portions of the Teleprompter in Chief's SOTU address it is apparent that his fundamental transformation plans include pitting people against each and making envy into a virtue. As we saw with Slick Willie on the issue of true meaning of Lewinsky's the President can have an influence on the culture for good or ill. In the case of the current POTUS he clearly wants to foment class envy and hatred of the productive in society. In prior years I would anticipate that Americans would find the idea of class envy as repugnant since there has never been in the entire history of mankind a country that promotes movement between the classes more than the U.S. But today I am not sure given the number of people that now rely on some form of federal government largesse. When we lose the admiration of successful people and want to "level the playing field" by using the tax code we are a lost nation.

Since the people are not voting to extend the socialist and Marxist agrendas quickly enough, how do you implement "Change" without class warfare, widespread riots, and looting? Martial law is the answer to these problems, and is an easy fix for all of our country's shortcomings...

The problem for the Republicans is that Obama can make a very compelling case to those that feel that they HAVE worked hard, for years, and yet have progressed little more than if on a treadmill. The financial setback of retirement accounts and housing values hit the middle-class hard. Housing may not have hit bottom yet. So Obama still has the advantage of campaigning on the tale that he inherited this mess and has just not had the time necessary fix it; especially since the Republicans in congress block every attempt (his opinion, not mine). His message will once again be one of hope (probably delivered with magic fairy dust). But if the Republican counter message comes across as "...that's class warfare, stop being envious of the rich, they deserve it, they worked hard, if YOU worked hard YOU too would be rich, you must be lazy, stop your envy...class warfare, class warfare, blah, blah, blah" This is a stupid strategy in my opinion that will alienate many, many voters who feel that they have, and do, work hard and still are losing ground and even worse; do not see any light at the end of the tunnel. There are far more voters in the middle-class than the upper-class. A recent poll indicated there are more registered Independents than registered Republicans. The Republican nominee must present a positive message to the middle-class and avoid the negative rhetoric about class warfare and envy. Hope is the most powerful of all human emotions. Obama has proven to be a master at selling it. The Republicans need to step up their game or we will have four more years of swallowing Obama's snake oil.

Don't disagree with this in the least. Whoever is the GOP nominee has to present a positive message that responds to those very concerns while at the same time pointing out that Oblamer is just not up to the task. But I do think your response is emblematic of what I was pointing out and that is historically Americans have not responded well to class envy, even if couched in terms like fairness. They intuitively recognized that in this country there is great mobility between the classes, both up and down. And that one day they too hope to be "rich", however that is defined. Maybe we have lost that essential element of what it means to be an American and if so, we are probably doomed as a great nation. But frankly I simply do not buy that concept. This country is not in decline and is still a shining beacon of freedom and opportunity. We've just hit a rough patch because of government interference in the mortgage markets and the current administration's repeating all the mistakes of FDR that caused the Great Depression.

I hope that to be true as well and that the Republican nominee can present a clear message that resonates with the voters. I've never been as anxious about a presidential election as I am about 2012. I am so concerned that the Republicans will make a gaffe, faux pas, or minor tactical error that will shift the middle swing voters toward Obama.

"the current administration's repeating all the mistakes of FDR that caused the Great Depression." Explain how FDR mistakes CAUSED the depression?

OK, I forgot you were a product of a government school education so you actually think FDR was a good President. It's quite understandable. I have recounted in other posts all the errors of FDR's administration that turned what was a worldwide depression into a Great Depression in the U.S. Rather than restating it I will refer you to a very good summary in a book called "The Forgotten Man" by Amity Shlaes. Does a very good job of describing how the policies of FDR, many of which are being remade by the Teleprompter in Chief because he too is ignorant of history, made things much worse in the U.S. than the rest of the world. And by the way, her reference to the forgotten man is the productive, job producing so-called 1% wealthy. FDR truly forgot the productive and in fact went to war against them.....sound familiar????? Only socialistic libtards like Oblamer actually think making all the same mistakes over and over again will result in a different outcome. Isn't that the definition of insanity?
