Only the pretending producers and 1%ers celebrate Martini Day. The real true blood Americans who defend and love this this country celebrate April7th...National Beer Day. I can't imagine Bubba drinking a Martini.

For the price of a Martini, you can buy a six-pack of beer.  For every Martini drinker… there are six blue collar jobs.  One would hope that there will be a plethora of folks who aspire to drinking Martinis (based on dubious… but realistic… statistics).

Well aware of the jobs created in the manufacturing sector by those that enjoy the martini. We cannot forget the need for skilled olive stuffers, and the role they play in crafting the perfect martini.

When the GOP is finished deporting all the illegals, who will remove the pit before it is stuffed by another illegal? I wonder what the illegal thinks when they stuff the producers olive?

I am not worried at all about any dearth, real or percieved, of illegals to stuff olives. Spent a number of late afternoons and early evenings observing the art, and can't recall even a single time that the skilled practitioner appeared to be anything other than a local. I generally don't mix fajitas with martinis so there actually may be an issue with available labor, unskilled, semi skilled, or skilled, at discreet locations.

Why cannot the State Department set up “immigration only” consulates on an “avenue of approach” at each state… opening directly to the Mexican side of the border… two for Texas?

Applicants could walk in and apply for a green card AND immigration.  The DOJ and FBI would screen applicants.  The applicant could leave a POC or linger on the MEXICAN side of the border until approved.

Current illegals would be required to exit the US and return through the immigration only consulate.  If they have a sponsor in the US (verified employer), they can be expedited for the green card… but, must undergo vetting for permanent immigration.

HOWEVER, No non-citizen can vote in the United States! No dead people.  No dogs or cats. No comic book heroes… not even Pogo… without a PHOTO ID and proof of citizenship.

Would be nice if we started enforcing the law and securing or borders!

Major, I am in awe. In that brief paragraph, you provided a reasonable, workable, easily implemented solution. I hope you don't mind as I copied and sent, via email, to my US Rep and both US Senators.

A nation which fails to secure its borders, degrades its sovereignty.  Every illegal immigrant in our free country is symbolic of our lack of respect for our own sovereignty.

I am not against immigration:

"…Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"  [Lazarus, 1883]

I am against ILLEGAL immigration… a disregard for the laws of the infected country… already an admission of disrespect for the land of opportunity.  This is tantamount to saying, “If you are so stupid as to leave your borders unguarded… I have right to exploit your economy and plunder your bounty.”

And we, the voters, have indeed squandered our sovereignty.

Other than major Christian holidays, Martini Day is the closest thing to nirvana for an expert like myself. Sadly, I am in the UK during this most holy of holy secular days (an oxymoron I know) so I opted to hoist a pint of bitter in honor of the day. As for the comments about martinis and the common man, with the advent of the vodka martini, it became accessible to even the lowliest of imbibers and is no longer the drink of the wealthy and James Bond enthusiasts.
