About the only silver lining of Hurricane Sandy is that the federal government in Washington, DC is closed down and will hopefully stay closed for a week. At least during that timeframe they can't screw up the economy or foreign policy to the extent they do on a normal day. Definitely not worth it given all the damage and disruption of people's lives but you gotta find something positive in the midst of the mess. Oh, one other positive I just thought of......Warren Buffett is heavily invested in insurance companies......maybe now he will have the losses to offset the billions he owes the govt in back taxes that he is fighting them in court about while he pontificates that he doesn't pay enough in taxes. Liberal hypocrites! Lots of speculation that the Messiah will delay the election. I say he won't because he knows that every day Mitt Romney campaigns is another day TOTUS loses support. He seems capped at 47% +/- while Romney is over 50% almost everywhere except the bluest of states.

I suspect most of the losses will be due to flooding and not covered by private insurers. Rather, it will be Flood Insurance or no coverage.

Always the battle between wind damage and flooding.......and your position depends on which seat you are in. Does make you wonder what the requirements are for flood insurance and whether many of the homes would have been required to have it.
