I almost feel sorry for A&e (almost), only because they are caught in the middle of a battle they didn't particularly want.

 The article at the link tells how A&e is now being criticized by other industry executives, ABC and CBS in particular,  for caving to the will of the great majority of their viewers.  Who'd a thunk?

There are a couple of paragraphs in the article that caught my eye as especially revealing.  

1.  "Several high-ranking executives have expressed upset over the way this all played out. The network execs think that in allowing Phil to come back so quickly and seamlessly, without apology, sets a bad standard,” the source told FOX411. “The standard being that talent can say whatever offensive thing they want about gay people or other groups and get away with it. No consequences.”

2.  ""It's all about money. I guess many feel that A&e should have taken a stronger stand,” added the source. “Where do moral standards go from here? Does this now mean stars can say whatever offensive things they want under the guise of freedom of speech, without repercussion?”

What is so totally hypocritical about their views is that if you were to substitute the term "Christians" for the term "gay people" there would not be a peep from them.

Its all about inclusion...for a select few.  One is free to speak...as long as that speech agrees with their views.  What a crock.

Surprised the link does not work. As to the contents, looks to me like A&E should have discussed this before they went public. They look like idiots....either can him and the show or shut up. It is all about money.

GF,  I have to admit I am impressed that are up already and checking the forum.  I would have thought the noise upstairs from your parents would not have been enough to get you up but maybe the hot cocoa was enough to entice you.  C'mon and admit it, the metrosexual pajama boy in the Obamacare ads was really just a picture your Mom took of you when you were 27 and still living at home......

GF, I am not sure how this got past the profanity filter on this website but I may lodge a formal complaint.  Having said that, if what you say is true this could explain why your parents kept you in the basement for so many years.  Why do I suddenly feel so unclean?!?!?
