The Dallas Cowboys have waived defensive end Michael Sam from their practice squad.  I'm curious why there was no press conference as when he signed with the Cowboys.  Maybe we're finally looking at Sam's football ability rather than his sexual orientation.  While he was there on the practice squad, he was making $6,400 per week.  Not a bad paycheck.

He is going to lecture you about what a great player Sam is and how all those teams that passed on him and the two that cut him just don't understand talent when they see it.   And they are just a bunch of homophobes.  

In my opinion if he had not come out when he did I am not even sure he would have been drafted.  All the college creds mean nothing when they watch them perform in the combines and as the honest news reports at the time indicated he was not impressive.  Oh well.....the great gay hope for the NFL turns out to be a bust.  That's what you get when you make yourself a cause celebre.

I find it amusing that you guys have such a fixation on a gay guy. He had his chance as a football player to make the team and was cut. It happens every day.

You harangued us in an earlier thread about the rump ranger and all his football acumen.  And now it is ho, hum....just another guy cut from the team........  If you go back and look at it we said basically the same thing, he is just not that good and that had nothing to do with him being limp wristed.

David Boaz, the executive vice president of the Cato Institute and who has played a key role in the development of the Cato Institute and the libertarian movement wrote an interesting Blog about Sams. The Institute has received funds from David Koch.

He writes that Michael Sam was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the country’s strongest football conference…the SEC. Every  SEC Defensive Player of the Year in the past decade, including the athlete who shared the award this year with Michael Sam, was drafted.

 My point at the time was the same. He deserved to be be drafted based on his football skills. He was drafted in the 7th round and now he has been cut.
