Ever since it became clear "O" was going to win the election the market has been falling. We had the brief rally when McCain went ahead in the polls after the convention and again when McCain started to close at the end. But since O won, the market keeps heading south. With each new statement he scares the pants off wall street. We have always seen a post election rally in hopes the "change" will usher improved consumer confidence. But not this time .... it is only increasing fear of higher taxes and more socialism.

Obama is insisting on baling out the UAW union, when it is clear it is the UAW that has ruined the US car industry. Wall Street is hating the lack of leadership they are seeing out of Obama and catering to the unions. While I don't want to see jobs lost, it may be time to let them file chapter XI like Delta and other business that get in trouble, they are protected from their creditors to give them time to restructure and hopefully get union concessions so the US auto makers can compete. Toyota, Honda, Nissian, Hyndui, BMW, and many others are now US car makers ... most do not have the UAW representing them. They are not asking for a bail out and if they did, would Obama support that. I doubt it since the Unions would want to make it a condition that if they are bailed out then they need to represent the workers.

With all this bailing -- will they be sending us buckets? Instead of "Drill baby Drill" it'll be "Bail baby Bail".

Starbucks is down, are we going to bail they out too? Now, that I could get behind. I love my Starbucks.

where does it end? The premise of Capitalism is a free market. We can't bail out every company that makes bad choices and fails. The auto industry has had untold numbers of chances to turn things around, yet they keep on doing the same old things. If we continue to prop them up with no stipulations they won't ever be successful.

I was only joking about Starbucks. There was a little article yesterday on CNN about brands that have gone away. I think more will. I understand Ann Taylor and Talbots are in trouble. I have a Talbots card and they have sent me so many promotions lately with discounts and free shipping.

You have to let them fail or at least restructure. I think it is the spector of the massive job loss that keeps the bail out talk going.

I read an intereting article in Business Week a number of years ago that predicted that the day of the secure longtime job was ending. Basically said that eventually, most of the workforce would be self employed and hire out their services for a particular project, while not becoming a company employee. The article said that the companies would no longer be able to afford the overhead.

Blame it on BIG O!!!!!!!!!! Why not???????

NEW YORK - An already disheartened Wall Street turned sharply lower today after Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said the government won't buy banks' soured mortgage assets after all, disappointing investors who hoped to see the bad debt wiped off companies' books. The Dow Jones industrials fell about 250 points, and all the major indexes dropped more than 2 percent as the market retreated for a third straight session.

Pretty soon they will be allowing anyone apply for a bail out. I could use one with this Obama market decline.

With all of your infinite wisdom, why can't the companies pay all of the overhead now??

What is your point? Do you even have a point?
Why DO you think companies can't pay overhead? You ask me, but you don't state your ideas. Do you have any?

After the dow broke 8,000, all the way to 7965 or down 220 points, it rallied from there finishing up 550 point or a swing of 870 points. What a day. Now we need about 14 more days up like that and i will be happy.
