being given credit to the market turn around yesterday. I did not see it, but CNBC had a number of guests on that said it was an excellent speech and really showed leadership. The market was downn about 200 when he started his speech and by the end was up 200 ... and continued from there. It looks like we may get some retracement today, at least at the open. But now there needs to be follow through from BO.

BO has been very quite which is giving a lot of investors pause for concern. He is not talking about what he and his team want to do so there is no spike in consumer or investor confidence that normally happens after an election .... especially this one that was all focused on "change". BO has still not laid out any change .... just change. This is when he should show some leadership, laying out ideas and his agenda, yet he is doing nothing. He needs to realize the speeches are over and now he needs to really do something.

If he discusses his plans, you will say he is President Elect and NOT the President until January 20, 2009. He did announce his support for helping the auto companies. We do have only one president at a time.

he supported bailing out the unions. Giving money to "only" the unionized car companies is not helping them. It will not sell more cars. They need to reduce operations and get union concessions to reduce costs and compete. What BO should be recommending is a tax credit for anyone that buys a car manufactured in the US .... not just GM, Ford & Chrysler .... that way all jobs are saved and the best manufactures are the ones that survive. If that means the union car companies fail .... so be it.

Bush is still the President and I'm sure he still employs an office of speech writers that can write him a good speech. He is still SUPPOSED to be providing leadership to this country. I think it is the least he can do for his remaining days. Of course, if he wants to send everyone another $1200 for Christmas shopping that will be okay too.

Obama, on the other hand, likely has speech writers, but he is not YET President. I think he is doing exactly what he should be doing --nominating his cabinet members and tending to matters of the transition.

Perhaps he and Bush agreed in their meeting that Obama would not be putting forth anymore plans or making major speeches until he takes office so as not to confuse anyone about who is still in charge.
