LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay will be among the cast of 16 celebrities in this season's "Dancing with the Stars" reality television show, the network behind the program said on Monday.

DeLay, a Republican who earned the nickname "The Hammer" for keeping lawmakers in line, served as House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2005.

I am a Republican and have a great sense of humor. I just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary with 60+ friends and family and had them in stitches telling family stories.

I do have to admit I am having a tough time imagining him dancing. You never know, he may be light in his loafers......wait a second, that would probably make him a liberal Democrat...... see, that was funny, right?.......you got a little chuckle?.....nothing?....

I'll admit it MM ... I did give a chuckle ... although you have to admit ... the "light in his loafers" comment would have been funnier if you were talking about Larry Craig :)

(And no .. it's not funny in reference to Barney Frank because ... well ... there just isn't anything funny about Barney Frank).

Thanks on the anniversary congrats! The event has caused some conversation about how it is such a milestone and yet 30 years ago would have been the norm.

Even Larry Craig and light in the loafers loses some of the comedy although tapping his foot in the bathroom wearing loafers does work (reminds me of the really funny spoof of that done by Brad Pitt and George Clooney). Don't know why Hound thinks we are humorless. Most conservatives I know are very happy, have a great sense of humor and are loving life. Not happy with the current leadership or economy but at our anniversary party the only people sitting in their seats looking unhappy were my wife's sister and husband who are big libs from Cincinnati. All the conservatives, parents of large families were out dancing up a storm and having a great time.
