This is one way for the Government Motors (GM) to increase their sales and stop competition from Japan.

Toyota was dominating the market. Those d@mn Japanese cars, made in right-to-work states, were the darlings of the auto consumer… over the junk that Detroit and the unions were spewing out. Toyota needed to be humbled… especially now that Obama owns a controlling share of GM and Chrysler.

Think “Global Warming”.

Ah! Now, perhaps you understand.

PS: I own one of those recalled models. I'll let you know if the accelerator ever sticks.

I would assume the way to handle it would be to put the transmission in neutral and apply the brakes. It will rev like he** but turning it off I assume will cause you to loss bothe brakes and power steering.

Call the dealer, drop off the car, amd ask for a rental. Just don't mention you you are a Wing Nut cause I understand the LIBs have first dibs on the recall repair work. Better yet, get a bumper sticker that reads Obama/Biden in 2012 and you will get immediate service. Trust me on that one.

Me? Gonna do nothing.

Let's see:

a) 2,000 complaints of unintended acceleration in some 20 million Toyota vehicles – that’s 1/100th of 1 percent.

b) The "sticky" pedal problem that caused Toyota to halt production and sales of eight models last month -- not linked to any accidents or injuries.

c) Hmmmm… considering all of the warranty work I’ve had done on my US brands vs the warranty work done on my Toyotas (none).

d) Smells a whole lot like fish to me.

I suppose if Toyota has to do something to my Toyota Avalon at the next regular service… to appease the TSA, the Detroit unions, and the Great Pretender… Okay, just don’t make me wait too long.

Just make certain if it does stick you avoid the mom driving her kids to a soccer match. Play the odds.... makes sense. The government ain't telling me what to do.
