Folks, be prepared for the Oblamer administration to be taking a victory lap over slightly improved job numbers that will be out today (and then revised downward next month to no fanfare). Reminds me of the performance review comment: "The employee sets very low expectations and then consistently fails to meet them". That is exactly what Oblamer and his sycophants in the government media are going to do. Some sobering facts: 1) Job growth needed to keep up with population growth = 220,000 to 250,000: What this means is that the economy needs to add that many jobs just to stay even with our growth in population. 2) Average job growth coming out of a recession = 300,000 to 400,000: Yep, that's right. The average job growth coming out of a typical recession is ~3 times what we have gotten from Oblamer. And the deeper the recession the larger the job growth. Reagan's recovery was in the range of 600,000 jobs each month. 3) Real unemployment is closer to 11%: When you factor in the millions of people that have given up ever finding a job in the last three years that is the real number. When you include the underemployed we are closer to 16% to 17%. 4) Income growth has been close to zero: Even for those that are employed, unlike all previous recoveries, there has been almost no real income growth. What that means is that raises, overtime, etc. is just keeping up with inflation. Hard to fuel consumer spending (the number one driver in the economy) when there is no growth in income. 5) Home prices continue to fall: Once the source of additional spending, homes have now become a losing investment for many Americans. This significantly impacts consumer sentiment in a negative way. So take the victory lap with a huge grain of salt as the Messiah and the government media attempt to redefine what constitutes a recovery from a recession in the US. Sadly, with the level of economic illiteracy in this country thanks to the horrendous job of our government school system many Americans will fall for it. Just think about it, weekly jobless claims are around 350,000 to 390,000 and monthly we add 120,000 new jobs and unemployment goes down? Common sense is uncommon these days......

This is so sad ... there are fewer people working today than when Oblamer took office ... yet he wants to claim how his programs are working as more and more people fall out of the job market because they gave up hope.

I am sure him and Ayers think the move to socialism is working great.

This is the 3rd straight decline in jobs growth when we are in the period when jobs typically rise.

What a disaster.

how unemployed people qualify for disability under Social Security.  Since stupid (obama) took office more than 5 million people have been added due to disability.  Article states that almost none of them ever re-enter the job market once they're on the guvment dole.  This is really sick.  See article below.

In 2012 alone Medicare will be underfunded by $290 billion!!! That means they spent $290 billion more than they collected in taxes which increased to deficit by that amount. In any business that would mean immediate bankruptcy, but not the Federal Government that pays its own debt back in new money it is printing like mad fools. We are on a course of fiscal insanity and Oblamer and the Dems in the Senate are 100% to blame for it. Only because the government media are useful idiots do they get away with it....... And now they are trying to demonize Paul Ryan for proposing a sense of sanity into this insane world. I am firmly convinced that if Oblamer is reelected we will go the way of Greece and much of Europe.

Thats how we got 8.1%. Last time it was this low was at the end of Carter's 1st term. Ironic that it is back to the same participation rate near the end of Jimmy Carter's 2nd term. Imagine what it will be like if Jimmy Carter gets a 3rd term?!?!?

The really sad thing about this is that even considering the facts of his performance, he still has a very good shot at being elected for a second shot at destroying the nation's economy (and more).

Such is the power of incumbency, especially with a government media more in the bag than with any other President at any other time in history.

At last count ... since he has taken office, more than 5 million people have been added to SS disability payroll.  This is more than the last 4  administrations combined.

If you run out of 99 weeks unemployment, the tax payers pay further not to work by making it easy to qualify for SS disability.

Those 5 million then are no longer counted as unemployed and in the numbers ... that is how unemployment rate goes down with horrible job production.

Oblamer wants to brag about jobs created ... but reality is that there are less people working today than when he took office.   That is what romney needs to pound on ...
