I thought you folks might like to know that Lake Lanier hit full pool this morning at 1071 MSL. However this is surely not the end of the water war.

Atlanta is the one in a pickle since it can't draw from Lanier for water. Wouldn't you think that that would benefit Lanier? Or am I confused?

Atlanta can't increase it's illegal water withdrawals from Lanier but it can continue to steal at it's current rate until a settlement is reached with AL and FL, for a couple of more years then withdrawals revert back to 1978 levels.

A federal court ruling did limit Atlanta's water consumption. The reversion to prior withdrawal levels that Wix mentioned, I was not aware of the details on that. If Atlanta can not overturn the court ruling, they will be forced to look for alternative sources of water. I suspect they will continue to look toward the Chatahoochee River and the Tennessee River.

As you may have heard, Georgia started claiming a part of the Tennessee River was theirs because of a survey error a long time ago, which caused the TN and GA state boundry to be too far south. Tennessee people snicker at that and think it's funny and rediculous but I think Georgia will continue with that argument.

The below article pretty well explains the situation currently. The proposed reservoir on the Coosa would directly affect Lake Martin by cutting the flow to the Alabama River. Whatever is cut from the Coosa has to be made up from Lake Martin. I think we just need to get the muskets and go take them yankees out.
