I am attempting to determine interest residents in the Lakeview Drive off Barron Bridge area might have in the provision of public water to our homes/cabins. I have spoken to the persons at the Walnut Hill Water Authority. If your place is in this area, would you please comment on your interest or lack of interest in public water. Would those served by the Authority please offer your experiences with the service.

Water service is good, but very expensive compared to other areas around lake.  As fulltimers we pay around $50.00/mo.  Yes, we have lake irrigation.

Our base rate is 17.50 in Elmore county, but on a normal month with full time use our average bill is between $50 and $60.

Good luck. I hope you can get enough interest.  Being in the SWVFR area, we know only all too well how difficult it is to fight a fire having to go back to CR 34 to get water.  Having water and fire hydrants would be a plus. I would think the savings on insurance would offset the connect fees.

Having public water is better than sliced bread!  Your insurance rates will decrease and you won't have to fool with a well, pump, etc.  We are full timers and our bill with Walnut hill is $25.48. We do water the yard from the lake!

Just curious...we are going to be full-timers in the next few months (yay!)...I little bump in the road with tornado damage to about 1/2 of our new house ;( My question is, do you have to have a permit or something to pump water from the lake to water your yard? We are planning on adding some sod to the lake side of the house, but pumping from the lake sure would be handy. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Water is free for all to be pumped from the lake. No permit needed.

Muddauber...you make a very good point about fire fighting. I am going to add this advantage to my survey about interest in public water. Thanks
