An often visited subject......I've been with Verizon for years, but now that my kids are grown and getting their own plans I'm going to try a prepaid plan. Previous posts on this subject clearly favor Straight Talk for the lake area but I'm wondering if anyone has tried other services. Virgin Mobile has some good plans, but it doesn't look like their coverage works here. Net10 is also getting creative with plans and it looks like they may have the same coverage as Straight Talk. Any direct experience out there with Net10 or Virgin? Others? Any complaints or problems cropping up with the Straight Talk users?

The advantage to Straight Talk is they use the Verizon system and towers.  AT&T is so bad on the lake that even Straight Talk has stopped offering ATT as an option.  I've heard T-Mobile is good on the lake.  If you use Straight Talk watch out for their "unlimited" data which I've heard is slowed way down after you exceed 2 Gigs usage.  Verizon even offers pre-paid at Walmart...$$$ though.

PagePlus is a wholeseller of Verizon. Go to Radio Shack and look at it. Then get on ebay and type in PagePlus. I just bought a Iphone 4S and connected it to PP. There are no taxes added to this. I save 5-10% every month off the price also because I enter discount codes. And its a Prepaid. If you dont want to use it. Just dont renew.  and yes, you can keep your old number. Email me if you need help. Its using erizon towers so no problem with coverage ever for me so far and I have had it 2 years.

Are all the same company. They use ATT and Verizon networks.

I just checked the Straight Talk website and they have finally started the BYOP (bring your own phone) program for Verizon.  Since you currently have Verizon you just pay about $15-18 and they set you up with your existing phone.

2 Year deal with Verizon is expiring soon, and I am leaning toward Straight Talk. My sister has it (Verizon) and it works well at our lake place.
Question?? How much data capacity do I need?? I would not be streaming sound or video. I am not much on Facebook, but I would like to check The LM Forum daily while we are there,,, just to defend myself against attacks fromthe likes of  LNG, McGill and Hodja,, sometimes Summer Place from the Hut. And check the weather radar occasionally,, maybe a little e-mail daily....
How much monthly data capacity would be needed?? I have absolutely NO Idea, at all, at all. Right now I have this little flip-phone that makes phone calls very well, without a limit. Suggestions?

What is your biggest gripe with PagePlus since you started with it?? We looked on-line and called to talk to Customer Service. Looks like a very competitive offering with Verizon coverage.
Biggest gripe/problem???
