you posted something about property taxes going up. no one really replyed much. taxes are not as bad as they are going to be in the next several years to come. ask me what i mean.
don't work for the state and don't make any kind of living off of taxes.
the wheels are already in motions and will come to all of us in the next few years. you will get some replys then.
oh well.

I was just talking about my property taxes going up from the previous year without any improvments. Was this just for lake property? If I have to pay more I wish it went toward the schools in the areas its needed most like the classrooms and teachers not toward the administrators.
I know several teachers and a lot of them do use their own money for things they need for their classes. I know there is waste in all areas of government, state government, and the like. With all the cuts that have been proposed latley I have seen nothing about cutting politicians. LIKE getting Health Insurance for life after being elected to two terms. Who pays for that Taxpayers. LIKE being immune from anything while in State Session, example Alvin Homes gets caught driving and drinking and they have to let him go.If these politicians want to help the "people" quit taking so many benefits which are being paid for by the "people"
I'll stop for now but you can elaborate more if you want too.

Money won't solve problems in schools. Sorry. We are taxed to death in Ga because of schools and they don't rank below the bottom, but almost.

it is common to read in the paper about cities or countys having a vote on raising property tax millage. most time it gets voted down. well we need more money, what are we going to do? how can we get money from property tax? if we can't get a vote to raise the millage, let's change the rule on how often we reapprase the value. the old rule was about every four or five years the tax bill would go up. here's what is happening.
last year about this same time and before the big state tax vote last year, i just happen to notice a one column story burried in the back of the b'ham news. it seems that during the next 10 years every county in the state will start reappraising property each year. the report said that all property will increase in value by 4 to 5 % yearly. this will show up on our property tax notice each year. some will say 'my tax didn't go up.' to that i say 'enjoy' because it will go up, the plan is already in place and started. and they didn't even have to ask for a vote. all the tax office people in every county know about it. they are staying quite till it happens in their county. don't tell the people now, they will be mad and probably vote me out. maybe everbody here already knows about the plan, i don't think so.
i will tell you more about the plan later if you want to know. like how it started, why my taxes didn't go up this year, etc.

Did the assessed value of your property increase? This is done at regular intervals to reflect the increase in the market value of the property. Viola, a tax increase without an increase in the rate.

Earl, forgive me for using your name or alias.

the increased market value used to show up on the tax bill about every four to five years. under the 'plan' the increase will show up on the bill every year that rolls around. as the paper stated, the yearly increase in value will be 4 to 5% per year. as you said "viola."
even though no one probably cares, i will post some more tidbits later.
