Maverick,

Your post from the APC people was good. Toward the end of the paragraph it says:

"...We have almost stopped hydro generation operations on the
Tallapoosa except for those operations needed for environmental and
minimum flow requirements. We are doing all that we can to fill Martin
and Harris lakes, as we need that water for generation later in the
summer. It is also important for recreation and other uses throughout
the year."

I looked at our lake level and it has come up 1 inch in 5 days. When they first put the plug in back at the end of February we didn't have any rain back then either. The lake was coming up 1 to 2 inches per day for many weeks. (This is even while the other lakes were getting the water first). I just wonder why the lake is only coming up 1 inch every 4-5 days now when the other lakes are already at full pool? Wouldn't you think that we would be going up at least 1-2 inches per day?

Just wondering why these numbers don't add up like you think they would?

I am with you on this PIke. I do not think there is any grand conspiracy - just Al Power doing everything the same no matter what. They may be handcuffed but even they admit they were able to change the policies on the Coosa to benefit the recreational aspects of those lakes. If they were paying attention, they would have put the plug in early since we have been in a deficit rainfall position for quite some time.

Ok "Forum Manager" - you can chime in here and tell us what idiots we are, blah, balh and blah.

It's warmer now than it was then, so maybe evaporation is a factor? I don't know for sure, that's just the first thing that came to my mind.

however, when we have protracted periods of drought similar to what we've had for well over a year, we need APCO to seek a waiver from Corps of Engineers to keep more water in the Lake over the winter. It's hard to recover 10 feel when you have period of drought, even if you are not releasing any water for the purposes of generating power. This waiver can be done...it's a matter of requesting it.

At least Lake Wedowee went up .8 in the last week – so if they can fill it up in say, another three or four weeks, then maybe we can get another foot or two after it gets full. Every foot is a big help.
