Well I got it. $39.95 for the device which is the size of 1/3 pack of cigarettes and includes the first YEAR’S annual fee of $19.95. Free calls anywhere. Free voicemail. You plug in a phone. You plug it into the USB jack on your computer. You register. That’s it.

It installed itself flawlessly as advertised. You can get incoming calls. It has voicemail including busy voicemail. It has call waiting. The sound quality is slightly less than Ma Bell but better than the VOIP I have heard.

I thought I was not going to get a phone # but I did. Incoming calls work just like normal. It is a Memphis TN number though but they say they are still signing up for other cities.

You can travel with it using any internet hookup and your notebook confuser.

It keeps a log of your phone calls and has a phonebook. It has a menu item to sync up with MS Outlook but I haven’t tried that yet.

Annual charges after the first year are $19.95.

I still can’t believe it.

Default sound setting. Simple fix.

I ordered one after reading your post. Do you need to keep it plugged into your computer and have the computer on always? Or could I take it somewhere else and plug it in and use it?

Yes it uses your internet connection which has to be relatively high speed. Go to the web site and cruise it. It answers most all of your questions.

The only aggravation I have notices is late in the day I start to get an echo on the line. BTW their email support is pretty quick and good.

I have a house on lake martin with no phone service -- use cell phone, which does not work all the time. I also don't have internet service, but can get on line on neighbor's service. Do you know if I have to have internet service to use magicjack, or can I use router?
