You people need to realize that this is not the city,
#1 these countys are not incorporated
#2 the people that live here on a permanent basis dont want them incorporated , therefore there is no local police , unless you live in alex city , dadeville , ETC.
#3 there are no paid fire / rescue departments , they are volunteer departments , most not very well equiped or trained.
most folks that live around this area , know how to take care of themselves , because we know that the sheriffs office, marine police , fire depts, are going to be awhile getting there , when something happens , for instance, i catch someone breaking into my house , that is where the S.O. IS GOING TO FIND THEM ! , if i see a neighbors house getting broke into i will hold the perps at gun point till the S.O. gets there , if my house is on fire i will salvage what i can until the F.D. gets there , if i see a wreck happen i will stop and render assistance , until help arrives, in this day and time , you have to be prepared , and depend on yourself , not big brother.
also self preservation , and common sense tells me that if i am on a boat, the operater will not be drinking , and that everyone will remain seated while the boat is in motion.
in addition, with these volunteer dept. there is not someone sitting at the station waiting to go, they have to leave work/home to get to the station, crank the trucks, gear up & then travel to the scene. so if you want faster emergency service you either need to move or stay in the city. or learn how to take care of yourself.
this is the way we live and common sense does prevail. didn't mean to step on anybodies toes. BEARTRAPPER
