Mike, Alex City boat ramp is definitely your best bet if you're trying to get up river... but as mentioned, be real careful. As soon as you pull out into the river, it can get real shallow on your left. You'll have to find the channel this time of year and stick with it. It's a long ride up to the shoals and even longer if you're not familiar with the water. I remember once heading up and coming around the bend at Hillabee Creek thinking I had plenty of water... I looked over and saw a blue heron standing in what looked like the middle of the river with only about 2" of his legs below the surface! Safe travels... upriver is likely a great place for stripes and white bass this time of year. Good luck!
